Red Lacewing

This lacy butterfly is among my favorites to work with. Their wings feature a varied pallet of warm earth-tones but it is the delicate patterns throughout that command closer inspection. This spectacular species is Cethosia Biblis, though it is more aptly known as the "Red Lacewing". It is a member of the Nymphalidae family that can be natively found in southern Asia. With carefully craftsmanship, I have sandwiched these selections of wing between two pieces of hand cut glass. Then using copper foil they are held together while I skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. Suspended by hypo-allergenic earwires, each earring measures 1/2" wide by 7/8" tall and they are remarkably light weight and fun to wear. With their rich tapestry, you will certainly enjoy the intricate details that these earrings have to offer.
