Red Lacewing

This real butterfly necklace is truly one of my favorites to work with. At first glance, the wing of this butterfly offers a bold coloration of black and red, but it is the rich patterns throughout that command closer inspection. This spectacular species name is Cethosia Biblis, though it is more commonly known as a "Red Lacewing". It is a member of the Nymphalidae family that can be natively found in southern Asia. I have sandwiched this choice selection of wing between two pieces of glass that I have cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This captivating pendants measurements are 5/8" wide by 1 1/8" tall, making for a charming statement. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp.
