Phoebis Trite

Phoebis Trite

$25.00Price
This real butterfly necklace quite simply has a peaceful elegance about it. Its semi translucent wings are a soft yellow with a slight touch of black that distinguish the tips. This lovely species name is Phoebis Trite but it commonly referred to as a "Sulphur" and it is a member of the Pieridae family that can be found natively throughout the Americas. I have preserved this butterfly by encasing it in several layers of hand painted resin, following its flowing form to create a very natural appeal. The resin that I use is clear so what you see are the natural colors of the butterfly. Though the resin does transmute the colors somewhat as it turns the butterfly semi-transparent producing an effect much like stained glass. The wing span of this quiet beauty is only 2 1/2", making for a gentle presence. This pendant comes on an 18" 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. Affectionately serene, this butterfly necklace is quite a little darling.
