Pale Hedge Blue
Simple and sweet, I thoroughly enjoy the iridescent quality of this real butterfly necklace. The front of its wings feature a soft blue that shifts and shimmers as the light plays across its surface. While the reverse side offers a quiet white with a slight peppering of markings giving it character. This gentle species name is Udara Dilecta but is better known as a "Pale Hedge Blue". It is a member of the Lycaenidae family that can be found natively throughout India, China and Malaysia. I have sandwiched the wings of this butterfly between two pieces of glass that I cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with lead free solder. This pendant measures 1 1/4" tall by 1 5/8" wide making for an unusual and intriguing shape. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. Being easily reversible, you will enjoy choosing which side best fits your fashion sense for the day.
