Painted Lady

With its rich patterns, earthy browns, hints of red and amber overtones this Real Butterfly Necklace is quite the little charmer. This butterfly comes from the Nymphalidae family with the Latin name of Vanessa Cardui but it is well known as the "Painted Lady". Famous for its beauty, the Painted Lady can be found throughout the world on every continent except South America and Antarctica. I have encased this butterfly in several layers of hand painted resin, following its form for a very natural appearance. The resin that I use is clear so these are the natural colors of the butterfly only transmuted somewhat with the added bonus of turning the wings semi-transparent much like stained glass. The wingspan of this gentle butterfly is only 2 1/4" and it comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. Though this being a modest sized butterfly pendant, with its amazing details it is an understatement that speaks volumes.
