Oh, how I love the iridescent blues of the Morpho Butterfly. Its brilliant blues shimmer in the light shifting colors as the angle changes. If you have ever seen one in person you know that photos will never do this beauty justice. This particular specimens scientific name is Morpho Menelaus but it is better known as a "Blue Morpho" and it is native to South America. I have captured here a section of its wing between two pieces of glass that I cut by hand and sealed together using lead free solder. It is rather interesting that the reverse side shows earthy browns in contrast and features "eye spots" that add intrigue to this necklace. This enchanting pendant measures 1 1/8" by 1 5/8" making for a bold and very beautiful statement. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. A definite eye catcher, you will enjoy showing and sharing this beauty with your friends.
