Morpho Didius

$25.00Price
It is hard to believe that the iridescent quality of this real butterfly wing necklace can actually be found in nature. It is amazing how the blues shift and shimmer as the light plays across its surface. Although I have tried my best, anyone who has seen one of these butterflies in real life understands that photos will never do this prismatic beauty justice. In contrast, the reverse side of this wing offers earthy mottled browns featuring rusty red and black "eye spots". The species name for this remarkable beauty is Morpho Didius. It is better known as a "Giant Blue Morpho" which can be natively found throughout South America. Carefully handcrafted by myself here at Studio9ten, I have sandwiched this selection of wing between two pieces of glass that I have cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This mesmerizing pendants dimensions are 1 1/8" wide by 1 5/8" tall, making for a rather proud statement. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. An eye catching necklace, to say the least, I am sure that you will find its beauty breath taking.
