The iridescent qualities of this real butterfly wing necklace are truly a wonder to behold. Its coloring is reminiscent of faded blue jeans that seem to shift and shimmer as the light plays across its surface. Although I have tried my best, anyone who has seen one of these in real life understands that photos will never do this prismatic beauty justice. In contrast, the reverse side of this wing is an earthy brown that features "eye spots" which are a deep black highlighted by rings of golden yellow. The species name for this uncommon beauty is Morpho Achilles. It is better known as the "Banded Blue Morpho" which can be natively found in South America. Carefully handcrafted by myself here at Studio9ten, I have sandwiched this section of wing between two pieces of glass that I have cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This enticing pendants measurements are 7/8" wide by 1 1/8" tall, making for a rather lovely statement. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. Though it is hard to believe that colors like this can be found in nature, this real butterfly necklace simply has a magical presence about it.
