Madagascar Sunset Moth - top wing
It is incredible how the light plays across the surface of this simple moth wing. Set on a jet black background lies an abstract pattern of iridescent green that almost shines electric. This spectacular species name is Urania Ripheus, but it is far better known as the "Madagascar Sunset Moth". Though I have tried my best, anyone who has seen this magnificent moth in person knows that photos will never do their prismatic beauty justice. I have sandwiched this choice selection of wing between two pieces of glass that I have cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This remarkable pendants measurements are 5/8" wide by 1 1/8" tall, making for itself a subtle yet exotic presence. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. With vibrant color that is hard to believe to be found in nature, this unusual pendant will surely make a wonderful conversation piece.
