Madagascar Sunset Moth - Bottom Wing
Nothing can quite compare to the captivating beauty of this real moth wing necklace. As the light dances across its surface this wing produces a rainbow of iridescent colors that shift and shimmer. The reverse side is just as remarkable with its spectrum of vivid colors that are offset by a sea of black. Although I have tried my best, anyone who has seen one of these in real life understands that photos will never do this beauty justice. Dazzling, to say the least, this species is native to the island of Madagascar. Highly sought after by collectors, its scientific name is Urania Ripheus but is better known as the "Madagascar Sunset Moth". Carefully handcrafted by myself here at Studio9ten, I have sandwiched this section of wing between two pieces of glass that I have cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This lovely pendants measurements are 7/8" wide by 1 1/8" tall. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. Though it may be hard to believe that colors like this can be found in nature, you are sure to find this natural beauty absolutely riveting.
