Madagascar Sunset Moth - bottom wing
This is undoubtedly one of my favorite specimens to work with. Its iridescent wing offers an awesome rainbow of colors that dance as light crosses its surface. This dazzling specimens name is Urania Ripheus, though it is better known as the "Madagascar Sunset Moth". Though I have tried my best, anyone who has seen this magnificent moth in person knows that photos will never do their prismatic beauty justice. Here, I have sandwiched this choice selection of wing between two pieces of glass that I have cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This wonderful pendants measurements are 5/8" wide by 1 1/8" tall, making for itself a incredible statement. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. Eye-catching to say the least, it hard to believe that these wonderful colors can actually be found in nature.
