The unusual shape of this real butterfly necklace makes for a curious eye catcher. With its tear drop shaped forewings and tiny aft wings it has a certain graceful allure. The subdued oranges of this butterfly are well defined by the subtle blacks patterns that outline its wings. This lovely butterflies Latin name is Dryas Julia but it is far better known as a "The Julia Butterfly". It is a member of the nymphalidae family that can found native from southern Texas all the way down into Brazil. I have encased this butterfly in several layers of hand painted resin, following its form creating a very natural appeal. The resin that I use is clear so what you see are the natural colors of the butterfly. This resin does transmute the colors slightly as it turns the butterfly semi-transparent giving it an appeal much like stained glass. The wing span of this beauty is 3 1/4" making for a graceful statement. This fascinating butterfly pendant comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp. With its subtle colors and unique shape this real butterfly necklace will be sure to bring you plenty of admirers.
