Glassy Blue Bottle
You will certainly find these real butterfly wing earrings to be quite exotic. Each wing offers a rather interesting pattern of soft black that features windows of translucent Coke bottle blue. This graceful beauty's name is Graphium Cloanthus although it is better known as a "Glassy Bluebottle". This specimen is a member of the Papilionidae family which can be natively found throughout Indonesia and also in Australia. With a delicate touch I have encased these butterfly wings in several layers of hand painted resin by following their flowing form to create a very natural appeal. The resin that I use is clear so what you see are the natural colors of the butterfly. This resin does transmute the colors slightly as it turns the wings semi-transparent giving them an appearance very much like stained glass. Surprisingly light weight and easy to wear, each of the wings measure approximately 1 7/8 inches in length and are suspended by hypo-allergenic ear wire. An intriguing pair of earrings, to say the least, you will enjoy sharing in their finer details with your friends.
