Common Lime Butterfly

With its clear moments, mellow browns and rich patterns these real butterfly earrings would be sure to go with any earth tones that you may wear. This lovely species is rather widespread throughout the world and its Latin name is Papilio Demoleus but it is better known as a "Common Lime Butterfly", as it likes to snack on limes. I have encased these butterfly wings in several layers of hand painted resin by following their gentle form to create a very natural appeal. The resin that I use is clear so what you see are the natural colors of the butterfly. This resin does transmute the colors slightly as it turns the wings semi-transparent giving them an appearance very much like stained glass. Unusually light weight and easy to wear, each of the wings measure approximately 1 3/4 inches in length and are suspended by hypo-allergenic earwire. These earrings are certainly a pair of genuine beauties that you will want to show off to your friends.
