Callicore Hesperis

This real butterfly necklace is simply bold and striking. It's front has an interesting pattern that contains strong reds, soft yellows, touches of white and iridescent blueish green markings on a solid black background. The reverse is rather remarkable as well with its pinkish reds and vibrant iridescent blues set on a sea of black. This unusual butterflies name is Callicore Hesperis and it is a member of the nymphalidae family that is native to South America. I have sandwiched the wings of this butterfly between two pieces of glass that I cut by hand. Then using copper foil I hold it all together so that I can skillfully finish with Lead Free Solder. This pendant measures 1 1/8" tall by 2 1/8" wide making for an unique and interesting shape. It comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp.
