African Monarch

Enjoy simple elegance with a real butterfly necklace. This butterfly has a defining light brown pattern that features small clear moments near the wing tips, but it is the amber areas that let in plenty of light that create a gentle glow when worn against the skin. The species name for this lovely butterfly is Danaus Chrysippus but it is most commonly known as the "African Monarch". It is a member of the nymphalidae family that can be found natively widespread throughout Africa and Asia. I have encased this butterfly in several layers of hand painted resin, following its flowing form to create a very natural appeal. The resin that I use is clear so what you see are the natural colors of the butterfly. This resin does transmute the colors slightly as it turns the butterfly semi-transparent giving it an appearance much like stained glass. The wing span of this beauty is only 2 5/8" making for a gentle and graceful presence. This butterfly pendant comes on an 18 inch 1.5mm black leather cord with a small chain extension and an easy to use lobster clasp.
